The 1990s indie pop zine chickfactor has been celebrating its 20th birthday this year with a marathon of anniversary shows in the U.S. The final celebration, in London November 16-18, is the For the Love of Pop! mini-fest featuring the Pastels, the Aislers Set, Tender Trap, Pipas, and many more.
chickfactor has also announced that after a decade-long printing hiatus, the magazine will have a new issue out soon, edited by co-founder Gail O’Hara. (The magazine’s other co-founder was Pam Berry of Black Tambourine/Slumberland Records.) That’s the cover, above, featuring Grass Widow. The publication is being funded via Kickstarter, and will include interviews with Corin Tucker Band, Bill Callahan, Black Tambourine, Frankie Rose, Sharon Van Etten, Grass Widow, and many more. It will also be for sale at the chickfactor website and various U.S. shops, like New York record store Other Music. (Taken from pitchfork.com)
