Natalie Maines has announced details of her debut solo album.

The Dixie Chicks singer will release her first LP Mother on May 7 through Columbia Records.

The rock-inspired album is co-produced by Ben Harper, and features covers of tracks by Pink Floyd and Jeff Buckley among others.

"I wanted this music to be very different from the Dixie Chicks," Maines said in a statement.

"Lots of albums by lead singers might just as well have been made by the band, but I think this is very different from anything the Chicks could make. That separation and distinction was important."

Tracks include ‘Without You’ by Eddie Vedder, ‘Lover You Should’ve Come Over’ by Buckley and ‘Come Cryin’ to Me’, co-written by fellow Dixie Chicks Martie Maguire and Emily Robison.

The title song ‘Mother’ is a cover of the track by Pink Floyd, which she recorded with Harper in his studio and used on the soundtrack for West of Memphis.

The tracklisting for Mother is as follows:

  1. Without You
  2. Mother
  3. Free Life
  4. Silver Bell
  5. Lover You Should’ve Come Over
  6. Vein in Vain
  7. Trained
  8. Come Cryin’ to Me
  9. I’d Run Away
  10. Take it on Faith
