Now Playing Tracks

Kathleen Hanna of Bikini Kill and Le Tigre has announced a full North American tour for her new band, the Julie Ruin. It’s in support of their upcoming debut Run Fast, out September 3 via the band’s own TJR Records.

This tour follows the Julie Ruin’s recent set at Pitchfork’s Northside Festival Showcase in Brooklyn, where they played songs from the new record as well as two tracks from Hanna’s 1997 Julie Ruinsolo album (“Radical or Pro-Parental” and “Apt. #5”). They’ll be supported on East Coast dates by Philadelphia punks Swearin’ and West Coast by La Sera, the songwriting project of Vivian Girls bassist Katy Goodman.

In related news, Sundance Selects announced yesterday they’ve acquired the North American rights to Sini Anderson’s film about Hanna, The Punk Singer, and plan to release it this fall.
